Don't Give Up

Due to the outcome of recent events I decided to make this simple LO in honor of me... Lol. :)

Journaling:
And I guess my recent eviction even inspired me to do more stuff. I made 1 LO & 2 cards early this morning (early as in 1:00 am!) I couldn't sleep & I noticed that I am more productive with scrapping during the wee hours of the morning.

End of the Road...

Well I did try & I made it through two rounds. But unfortunately for me, it was the end of the road for my Scrappin' Moms Idol journey. I must admit I was really scared to try because I know it was gonna be a long shot for me. All the contestants were really good & some of them I really consider my idols when it comes to this craft. But looking back, I can say I'm proud of myself for having the guts to join despite of the doubts I had. I learned so much not only from the challenges but also from the other contestants as well. There were lots of new techniques used by the others & I'm sure they'll be something I can try one of these days. Thank you Scrappin' Moms for the opportunity!

Well on the lighter side, my best friend gave me a buzz a few days ago asking me for help with her brother's wedding. I will be making invitations & giveaways for that. I guess it's true that when one door closes, another opportunity paves its way in. At least with this I'll get to do what I love & get paid too. Hehe.

Altered Felt

I received my felt piece from Liza Yet of Artzdescrap last week for their 6x6 altered felt challenge. I had several ideas on my mind but I ended up making this:
It's a case for my ipod shuffle. I found it in my bag & it didn't have a case. Since this gadget is so small, it's quite difficult to search for it inside my bag. That's when I thought of creating the case which was perfect for the challenge. Since the felt is limited to 6x6 inches, a small ipod case will be just right. I stitched two colors of felt together (pink for the front & purple for the inside). I also added a felt flower with a button center & a musical note as embellishments for the inside. The front is embellished with white felt which I cut into a rectangle (with the sentence "I love music") and another one shaped into a circle to make it look like the ipod. I also stamped green flowers on the purple felt which aren't quite visible in the picture (hehe). I stitched the velcro snap ons on the strap of the case. Here's the front view of this project:

End of Week 1 now moving to week 2

Scrappin' Moms Idol Gallery for week 1 was uploaded yesterday. I was so nervous to see the gallery. Lots of great creations were done by the participants. I can't post mine here but if you're interested to view my work you can visit the Scrappin' Moms Gallery. The results... Well surprisingly I made it to the next round. I don't know how long I'll be in the running but just knowing I made it past the eliminations is already good news for me.

Smile!

Now I can smile! I just finished sending my entries fro the week 1 Challenge of Scrappin' Moms Idol 2. I have a terrible headache but at least I'm done with week 1. We'll e hearing results this Friday.

I also made a new LO for Marcie! Just looking at her in this photo will surely make me smile.

I used a bow to create this butterfly. Trimmed the edges of the ow & rounded them to give it that butterfly wing shape. I added some glimmer paint in the "wings" too.
I used rik-rak for the flower stems & added a bead on the center of each flower.

Week 1 for Scrappin' Moms Idol

I was surprised to see our challenge for week 1 for Scrappin' Moms Idol 2. It's about creating a 4 piece party set. Not that I'm new to this, but I felt quite nervous about the pop-up invitation. I've never made a pop-up card before so this was a real challenge for me. I've created lots of invitations before but this one was a tough one. I like to be hands-on when I organize parties for friends & family. I make it a point that my invitations will always be unique. But hey, I've never done a pop-up! So off I went researching through my craft books & the world wide web. First I had to think of a theme. I finally came up with something after hours of not sleeping. Seriously, I couldn't sleep because if this challenge. Thanks to the internet I managed to get lots of ideas. I have already finished the pop-up invite (Wow! I actually made it after 2 tries!), the table napkin ring, the giveaways, a party hat for the girls (the one for boys I'll probably finish tonight), the place mat. So that's actually 5 elements already. Too bad I can't post the pictures here yet. Not until the entire contest is finished. Got my fingers crossed... Hope I'll make it to the next round.

Before I end this post I thought I'd share some of the invites I created before so there'll be pictures to see on this post (hehe):

A Simple Equation

You + Me = Forever... this was the title for my latest LO. This one's a special LO about me & my dear hubby. I tried to keep this LO plain & simple. I only used 3 colors (black, white & red) & no patterned papers, just card stocks & an acid free construction paper. The alphas & the red flower were all cut from my Wishblade (one of my favorite crafting toys). Here's what I finished:

Journaling reads:
It's a simple equation that anyone can solve in a flash. You plus me equals "FOREVER". Two different people bound by love...

Busy Week..

I haven't been able to post here for a few days. Been quite busy with stuff at home. But in between the busy week I was still able to do a few LOs. One which I cannot post here yet and the other LO is an entry for a challenge which I will be posting shortly. I recently joined the Scrappin' Moms Idol 2 and honestly, I wasn't sure about joining at first since I've seen how good all the other participants are. But luckily I made it past eliminations and moved up to the next round. Quite a challenging task though for the next round. I know I've organized some parties before but I'm still nervous about this weeks challenge which is to create a 4 piece party set. One has to be a pop-up invitation which I haven't made ever! Well good luck to me! :)

Angelic Smile

Last October was Marcie's first Halloween. We were so excited to dress her up in her cute angel costume. I reused her baptismal gown which was all white. It was a long gown so she was still able to fit it. I had a white ribbon which I used for her headband. The only thing I bought was the angel wings. We took her to the mall for some Trick-or-Treating. She was a crowd favorite. Everyone stopped to glance at her and she had that beautiful angelic smile. Her treat bag was filled up fast because the store tenants adored her, they added extra treats for her. Well she still couldn't eat all those candies at her age but she sure had fun for her first Trick-or-Treat.

This is the Time of My Life

While I was cleaning my closet a few days ago, I stumbled upon my high school & college pictures. For a change I decided to make a LO about my college graduation which, I must say, is one of the proudest moments in my life. After 16 years of schooling it was finally time to finish my studies. I am so thankful my parents sent me to good schools & worked so hard to give us a good future. Closer:

Tic Toc Tic Toc....

This month's Kaya Challenge at Pinoy Scrapookers is to alter a wall clock. I had an unused clock in the house which was still in a box. I think my mom got it for free when she bought our water dispenser. ;) I used Marcie's cute picture for my clock. Now it's more pleasing to look at the time because it has my little girl's cute picture. :)

Be Creative

I found this journal in our house which I used to jot down my plans & ideas for my future business. I always wanted to put up an arts & craft store here in our place & I'm praying & hoping it would soon turn into a reality. This is where I also draw little sketches for some of my LOs & card ideas.

Well since I'm an "artsy" person I decided to jazz up my plain old journal & I ended up creating this:
My new & improved journal looks more inspiring & will surely get my creative juices flowing. I painted the cover with chocolate brown paint & when it was all dried up, I started decorating it with left over scrap papers & stickers. I found an old picture of me & placed it on top of the paper scraps to make it more personalized. Oh I did a little stitching on the photo too.

The title "Be Creative" was inspired from the challenge posted from One Little Word. Their word for the week is "BE". Since this journal is about art & creativity the title was perfect. Written on the paper strips were more words to "Be"... Unique, Me!, Helpful, Smart, Patient, Organized, Fun!, Inspired, Artistic, Resourceful, Productive, Thankful, Beautiful & Happy. =) Hand-written quote written at the bottom right reads..." Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep." - Scott Adams-

Cleaning up my closet...

A little break from scrapping...
I made a short list of things that I have to accomplish for this month. First on the list was to clean & organize my closet. Thank goodness I finally got my “cleaning mode” on! Haha. It took me about 4 hours clearing up a single closet! I didn’t realize (until today) how much clutter was in there. I had to do a lot of sorting too. The old clothes I had in there were piling up & I remembered that sermon from our priest when he said it is shameful to have lots of things stored up & not being used when a lot of people around us barely have anything to wear. So I did my sorting & guess what??? I ended up filling 2 bags of unused clothes which we will surely give out to others and 1 big paper bag full of trash to give away to the garbage men. =)

So here are the before & after photos:

Before:

A few hours later:

Well it is better than before right??

I felt tired but very relieved at the same time knowing that my closet can finally “breathe” now. If it could talk it would probably be rejoicing & thanking me! Plus I know a lot of people will benefit from our unused clothes. They’re all in good condition but a lot of them I can no longer wear because I gained a little bit of weight after giving birth. One down!

You're Beautiful... Every Little Piece Love

I had this beautiful picture of little Marcie which was taken last New Year's Eve. I bought her a cute polka dot outfit for the celebration (It is a tradition here in the Philippines to wear polka dots for New Year, people believed it brought good fortune) . She looked really pretty & was in the mood for a little "modeling". Though it was quite late already, she didn't seem to look sleepy at all.

I decided to make a simple LO for these pics... Polka dot style! I used polka dotted pattern paper to create the borders. I had loads of foam shaped circles in my stash which I bought years ago so I thought this was the perfect time to use them. I glued different sizes of the circle foam on top of another & used them as embellishments. I used stickers for the word "You're" & topped it with dimensional glaze. The word "Beautiful" was cut from my wishblade & I placed the word on top of a purple ribbon. Under the ribbon were hand written words... "every little piece love". Here's my finished LO:

Journaling:
It's another new year. We welcome 2008 with a small family gathering. A few days from now & you'll be turning 1 already! =) You looked so beautiful in these pictures. You in that cute polka dot outfit with the most beautiful smile. I do hope you'll always stay that way... BEAUTIFUL, inside & out.

I won! I won!

Wow this made my day...

I won a fiskars apron & finger tip knife just for posting this blinkie:

here in my blog. I'm usually unlucky with raffles & contests but maybe August will be my lucky month. What a great start for this month. :)
